Frog Reports

At the end of Term 3 we learnt all about frogs. Here are just a couple of examples of the frog reports that we each wrote. Look in our publishing files to see the rest.

Frogs

Frogs are amphibians. An amphibian is an animal that lives on land and in water.

Frogs have lots of features that help them survive. Frogs have big bulgy eyes. They can see forwards, sideways and upwards at the same time. Frogs have powerful back legs and can jump along way. Red-eyed jungle frogs can change colour. They have webbed feet. They have smooth skin. They hibernate in winter. Frogs have super long tongues.

Frogs live all over the world except for cold places like Antarctica. Frogs need to live near water because their skin must not dry out. Some frogs live in trees.

Frogs are carnivores that eat only living meat. Big frogs can eat baby snakes, mice, baby turtles and flies. Frogs also eat mosquitoes.

A frog metamorphoses from a tadpole to a frog. First the frog lays lots of eggs in water. Next a tadpole hatches out of the egg. Then they grow back legs. After that they grow short front legs. The tadpole gets fatter and the tail gets shorter. Finally the tadpole gets lungs so it can breathe air. Now they are adult frogs.

Frogs have lots of interesting things about them. A group of frogs is an army. Jungle frogs have sticky pads on their fingers and toes so they can climb trees. Many frogs can jump twenty times their own height.

Frogs are carnivores that eat only living meat. They eat snails, worms, flies, grasshopper and moths but they don’t eat dead things.

Dragon descriptions

 We had to describe this dragon whilst trying to use WOW words. 

WOW words are interesting words that make it more exciting for our reader.

The dragon is multi coloured. Its face is green, its spikes are yellow on top of its body and the claws are sharp. The dragon is ferocious. Its teeth are sharp. It has two wings on its body. The legs are skinny on the dragon. Its tail is long. The dragon’s body is covered in scales.

Zane

The dragon is multi coloured. Its head is dark green, its scales are green and orange and the claws are green. The dragon’s teeth are as sharp as knives. The dragon is shaped like a snake with a spiky tail. It’s flying ferociously to find some meat.

Miley

The dragon is multi coloured. Its claws are sharp green, its tummy is humungous and its head is strong. Its teeth are terrifying. It has four wings. It’s flying ferociously spying for food.

Romer

The dragon is multi coloured. Its head is green, the claws are long sharp and they look tough and the scales are orange. Its body is rough and spiky. The dragon’s fangs look ferocious. The dragon’s body is wiggly like a snake. Attached to the arms and legs there are green spiky wings. The dragon’s body is long but scaly and skinny. The dragon is swooping through the sky searching for food.

Isla

The dragon is multi coloured. Its head is green, its spikes re orange and the tummy is green. The dragon’s eyes look ferocious. Its body is gigantic but the legs are skinny. It has scary green round eyes.

Jayme

The dragon has a spiky orange back. It has a blue pointy scary face. It has spiky claws that are green. The dragon has a pointy tail. The dragon is fierce because it looks scary.

George

The dragon’s tail is made out of flames. The dragon has a dark green spiky humungous head. It is multi coloured. The colours are purple, blue, green, orange and yellow.

Skylar

The dragon has a sharp pointy tail. It breathes fire. It has pointy claws to rip stuff like clothes. The dragon is gigantic. It could kill people.

Ben

The dragons face has sharp pointy teeth and it has a flame tail. It can swoop through the sky and has fire on its back. It has a yellow tail but the bottom of its body is green. The dragon is multi coloured too. It is mean and the scales are like sharks scales but they aren’t. Its eyes are green.

The dragon is humungous. Its back is very pointy and sharp. The dragon is ferocious. Its nails are very pointy and sharp. The dragon is very fiery and smoky. Its tail is really spiky. The dragons tail swoops through the wind. Its pointy teeth are so sharp. The dragons green scales are so smooth. The dragon is multi coloured. At the start of the dragon it is huge but it gets smaller and smaller and smaller.

The dragon has flames on its tail. It is green and blue. It has wings.

Term 3: Report writing

       This term we have learnt about writing reports. We         started by looking at sea animals in three groups and we      each wrote a report. Some of us have also written our own other animal reports. 

     Week 9 is Frog Week so look back soon for our frog                reports.

Jellyfish

          Jellyfish are invertebrates. They are not fish.

     

      They live in all oceans in the sea and in fresh water.

  Jellyfish eat small fish, small plants and sometimes           jellyfish. 

    

      They have no brains and they sting with their tentacles.

Killer whales

          Killer whales are mammals. Killer whales are warm          blooded.

      They live all over the world in cold coastal waters.

Killer whales eat other mammals like sea birds, squid,            penguins, sharks and other fish.  

       

 They are one of the fastest sea mammals. They have a

 thick layer of blubber.

Turtles

    Turtles are reptiles. They are cold blooded and lay eggs.

  

They live in many places but not in the North Pole.

      Turtles eat meat, plants and squid.

      They have a good sense of smell and hard shells.

We watched this clip and did the quiz at the end to see if we knew the difference between there, their and they're. We are still learning when to use each one but this is good practise for us.

Leaf Descriptions

We have been out looking at all of the gorgeous Autumn leaves lying on the ground. We used them to help us practise writing descriptions. Our goal was to look closely and describe what we saw. Check them out!

At a glance you might notice that the leaf is brown and it is curled.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it’s brown and black. It has got rips. It’s got wee holes. The veins are big too. There are big rips.

Alex

At a glance you might notice that the leaf is orange.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it is orange on the outside and it is brown on the inside. It has one hole in it, and the edges are curved up. The veins are stuck to the stalk.

Ben

At a glance you might notice that the leaf is brown and has veins.

But once you look closer you will see that actually there is a little hole near the bottom in the middle. It has spikes on the sides. It has dark brown on the front, but when you turn it over it is light brown.

Daniel

At a glance you might notice that my leaf is brown.

But once you look closer you will see that the leaf has a straight big stem. The holes on the leaf are big and little. The top and the sides are bending over. When you put it up at the light you can see the light through it.

But once you look closer you will see that actually the stems edges are spiky. The leaf is brown and wee bit orange. It is skinny and bumpy. The holes are small and tiny. The veins are big and small.

At a glance you might notice that the leaf is light brown and curled at the edges.

But once you look closer you will see that actually there are patches of red close to the middle and there is yellow. The stem is yellow and spotty at the top and the bottom. The edges are sharp and curved. It has rips in the middle and on the right hand side. There is a long vein and some medium sized veins. You can feel the veins. My leaf used to be shaped like a clover.

At a glance you might notice that my leaf is shiny brown.

But once you look closer you will see that actually there are three rips near the edges. The stem is broken. The edges feel bumpy when you touch them.

Jade

At a glance you might notice that the leaf is orange-yellow.

But once you look closer you will see that actually there is green on the edges. My leaf has little rips on the side near the middle. My leaf has curled up on the edges. If you scrunched my leaf it would break.

Jayme

At a glance you might notice that my leaf is brown.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it is dark brown on the front and on the back it is light brown. It has lots of holes on the left side of the leaf. The stem is skinny and the leaf is fat. The edges are sharp. If you feel my leaf the veins are bumpy.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it’s green at the bottom and yellow at the top, with rips on the edges. There are spikes on the edges. If you scrunch it, it will break. It has veins in the middle and the leaf is small.

Meg

At a glance you might notice that the leaf is ripped.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it has more rips. It is dark brown and has spikey edges. It used to be flat but now it is curled up. If you scrunch up my leaf it will break.

Miley

At a glance you might notice that the leaf is orange and curled up.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it is orange-brown, and there are black spots. The edges have bumps and they are sharp. The leaf has big veins and smaller veins. There are small and big holes. There is one rip in it. The stem is sharp and curvy. It feels funny and ticklish around the ends, and it’s curved.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it is orange and brown with white spots. It has 8 rips and 6 holes. It has bumps like mountains. The stem is short and curly. When I run my finger along the leaf it feels like bumps. The edges feel like mountains. The veins are big.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it has brown on the other side. The stem is curved like an ‘s’ and if you feel it, it feels bumpy. Its edges are spiky but it’s smooth on one side because it’s ripped.

But once you look closer you will see that actually there are holes and rips in the middle of the leaf. The edges are rough and bumpy. The stem is short and curled. The veins are small and they are a square shape. It feels very very very bumpy on the edge. It is a very light brown.

But once you look closer you will see that actually its veins are brown. The stem is short and bumpy. It feels crunchy and sharp. On the tips of the leaf’s edges, it is bumpy. It has holes and a rip in it.

But once you look closer you will see that actually it’s red too with tiny dots of brown and black. If you gently crush the leaf it won’t break. My leaf’s veins are very bumpy. The edges are bumpy. Most of it is curly. It has got lots of holes.

But once you look closer you will see that actually there is some yellow and little green veins with patches of red. It has spiky edges. My leaf is made up of 8 small leaves. On the right side there are 3 leaves missing.

In Room 6 we like to use photos as inspiration and imagine that we are in the photo. We include what we saw, heard, felt and wondered. In term 2 we have been studying the war. Here is a photo that we described.
